What to expect on a Sunday

Children’s Ministry

We are committed to overall excellence in every aspect of our children’s ministry at Calvary.  Our caring staff, biblical curriculum, and ongoing training equip us to teach and care for children from birth through Grade 6.  Recent floor-to-ceiling classroom renovations provide a clean, engaging venue through which children experience the truth of the Bible in fun, exciting, and practical ways. Age-specific teaching and worship through song are key components in impacting children’s lives.

Safety is of primary importance to us. Our teachers have been regular attendees for many years, and all have had extensive background checks to ensure that your children are safe and well cared for. We have strict check-in and check-out procedures so that your children pass safely between our hands and yours.

You will find a variety of preferences in regard to dress. For the most part, our “style” would be referred to as casual.

Teaching is always based on God’s inspired Word in the Bible, and how it applies to our lives. We study books of the Bible and also do topical sermon series.

Contemporary worship songs are part of every service to celebrate the person and the work of God. He alone is worthy of our praise.

Prayer is a fancy word we use to say we are talking to God. During our worship service you can expect to be led in corporate prayer as well as given time to reflect quietly and speak to God in response to his Word.

We take the elements of communion every week as part of our worship service because Jesus said:

‘Do this in remembrance of Me’.

Communion is a reminder of what He has done for us through the breaking of his body and the shedding of his blood on the cross. It is a wonderful way to close each worship service by reminding us of His great love for us. It is not a time to dwell on our sin, but instead a time to praise God and offer thanks and praise to Him because he has brought us into healthy and holy relationship with Him.

We do not pressure anyone to participate and ask that if you are not a follower of Jesus that you use this time as a silent reflection. We offer gluten free and alcohol free options.
